そういった時に分からず「What do you mean?」と聞くのもありですが、どうせなら分かる人になりたいですよね？

Even if you don’t understand when that time, you will say “What do you mean?”: It’s OK: But you might us well understand it, too don’t you?

今日はよく使われる理解しやすいタイプの有名なidiomです

Today’s idiom is useful, understandable and famous.

It rains cats and dogs ( 雨が激しく降っています)

これはシンプルでとてもわかりやすい方です

This is simple grammar and understand easily.

これを聞いて逆に楽しそうだと感じましたか？いい考えですが、今は違います。文字通りに受け取ってはダメです

On the other side of the coin, were you feel fun?; Good things, but it’s incorrect now; Don’t take this too literally.

使うときは例文の通りに使うことが多いので、このままでもOKですし、It’s raining cats and dogs と現在進行形にしても使えます

If you want to use it, there is no problem as in the example; And you can also use “It’s raining cats and dogs” as present continuous.

ちなみに過去形は It was raining cats and dogs か It rained cats and dogs ですが後者は聞いたことがありません

Anyway, past tense of the example is “It was raining cats and dogs” or “It rained cats and dogs”, but I don’t really listen about the latter.
